Dear Birthmother

Thank you—we’re not sure if there is a more important way to start this letter. We imagine you are experiencing a range of emotions, all of which are valid. Regardless if you choose us to be the parents of your child or not, you are strong, compassionate, and selfless. If no one has reminded you of that today, know that we are genuine and hope only the best for you.

Our journey to fatherhood is something we’ve thought about often over the years. In those moments—washing dishes at the sink, walking by families at the neighborhood playground, or traveling home for the holidays—we’ve thought about you, about what you were doing in that moment as well. We hope each time you were happy and in peace and building toward the life of your dreams.

At this point in our lives, we are ready to be dads. We are both in steady and fulfilling careers and have great relationships and financial stability. We have enough wisdom, patience, and experience to navigate whatever comes in the future. Most importantly, we have huge hearts ready to pour infinite love, attention, and dedication onto your child.

All of life’s events, both significant and small, have led to this connection between former strangers. Call it destiny, divine intervention, or simple coincidence. For all of the things we have or hope to accomplish, this is one we cannot do without you. For that we will be eternally grateful to you, the mother.

About Us

If any words could best sum up our relationship—or life outlook in general—it’s humor and sarcasm. Not to say that we aren’t ever serious since we have a deep understanding of each other and mutual respect that grows stronger every day, but our quick-witted and loving personalities ensure our house is always filled with laughs and smiles. After four years together, we got married in 2022 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., surrounded by our immediate families. Adam is a data analyst, and Billy is a professional musician. In addition to our day jobs, we both enjoy the opportunity to work with youth. Adam is a rowing coach for a local high school, and Billy is a trumpet professor at a local university. At the end of the day, spending time with our fur babies through a walk or cuddling on the coach is our preferred way to catch up, unwind, and relax.

What Led Us To Adoption

On our first date, the topic of kids came up almost immediately. It was clear our goals of becoming dads and starting a family were mutual. Being a non-traditional family, we researched our options, and adoption is the right fit for us. Our desire to raise children is growing stronger as we see friends and family starting their families. We look forward to starting our own by opening our loving home.

Our Home

Home

We bought our four-bedroom home in 2020 when we realized that life in a small apartment with our three fur babies (two dogs Athena and Blanche and one cat, Maverick) was getting pretty tight! We live in a very safe and family-oriented neighborhood with great amenities, such as a pool and playground. Living in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., we are close to the museums, monuments, culture, and history that our nation’s capital has to offer. Within our immediate community, we are walking distance to many parks, restaurants, shopping, and great schools.

Our Family

Extended Family

We both come from tight families. Adam’s family is smaller, but holidays and summer camping trips to local lakes were always spent with grandparents and family friends. He has an older brother and younger sister who have not started families yet.

Billy comes from a very large family. Although he only has one sister, he has dozens of cousins who grew up doing everything together. They took many family vacations, had tons of family parties, and spent a lot of time at Billy’s parents’ lake house in northern Wisconsin.

Right now our jobs and life have us living away from our families, but we still travel home to Washington State (Adam’s family) and Wisconsin (Billy’s family) for holidays, big events, or just a vacation at home.
