Dear Birthmother
Dear Expectant Parent,
We would like to thank you for allowing us to introduce ourselves and tell you about our lives. As a gay couple, we knew having a family would be difficult. Still, we can't even begin to imagine your difficulty in deciding to create an adoption plan for your future child. Words cannot express how grateful we are for your consideration for the honor of raising your child.
We have been together for six years and married for three of those. As cheesy as it sounds, our relationship is overflowing with love, and we want to share that with your child. Although we don't have the most extravagant things, we both have stable jobs and can provide everything a child could need. That is especially true of a caring support system composed of our siblings, parents, cousins, and friends. We also live in an area with good schools and endless activities. We will work hard to give your child the education and life experience that will bring them joy and make them a well-rounded member of society. We will do this while supporting their passions and allowing them to grow into the person they desire to be.
We know we are meant to be parents. If fortunate enough to be chosen, please know your child will be cared for and loved immensely. We will also ensure they recognize your love and courage in making this decision. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Warmest wishes,
Dorin & Jose
About Us
A mutual friend introduced us in 2016, and our love story began. We relocated to Michigan in 2017, married in 2020, and moved back to California in 2021 to be closer to family. As a couple, we are a combination of laid back and adventurous, hardworking but goofy, fun-loving, and family-oriented. Dorin’s favorite things about Jose are his endless optimism and sense of humor. Even though Dorin often overthinks things, Jose loves how funny Dorin is. Dorin is a project manager, and Jose is an EKG technician at a local hospital. These careers have allowed us to spend time traveling, which is one of our favorite hobbies. While at home, we enjoy gardening, playing with our pets, and having game nights with our nieces and nephew. Most of all, we like spending time together wherever we are.
What Led Us To Adoption
When we started dating, family was one of the first topics we discussed. We both grew up in large, tight-knit families and agreed we wanted to give a child the same love and support we got growing up. After a year of marriage, we knew it was time to start our family and spent months investigating our options. Finally, we excitedly decided on adoption. We started the adoption process about three years ago. Life has many unexpected events, and we had to put our adoption journey on hold. Although it took longer than planned to get here, we eagerly await the opportunity to provide a safe, supportive, and loving home.
Our Home
We live in a quiet neighborhood with highly rated schools and many young families. Our Spanish-style home is on a cul-de-sac, with a large front yard and fenced back yard, perfect for our three dogs (Bandit, Sierra, and Rhea) and future child(ren). We’re within walking distance of multiple parks and only a short drive from great activities like sports facilities, a waterpark, Disneyland, and Knott’s Berry Farm. Exploring the mountains or lounging on the beach are less than an hour away. Best of all, we are near our friends and Jose’s family! We’re both animal lovers, and along with our dogs, we have two cats (Waffles and Rogu).
Our Family
We both come from large extended families that shaped who we are today. Dorin only has one older brother, but his mom is one of eight children so he had more cousins than he could count as a kid. Because his grandparents played an integral role in their childhoods, his cousins are more like siblings. Although we don’t live near his family, Dorin remains close to them. We see his parents every few months and talk to them at least once a week. One of Dorin’s favorite things is going to Wyoming for family events at his aunt’s cabin.
Jose is one of four children. His siblings have blessed us with a nephew and six nieces. We take turns hosting family dinners with his siblings, dad, and in-laws. We frequently spend time with his cousins as well. We also have a great community of chosen family members and a ten-year-old goddaughter bursting with personality. Our families are both as excited as we are about us adopting a child.
