Dear Birthmother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you again for taking the time to get to know me a little better. I am so excited to build my family through adoption! I can’t imagine the difficult decision you have to make, but if you choose adoption, I promise to raise your child with a deep appreciation for you and the decision you are making.

More than anything, I want you to know I promise to love your child unconditionally, protect them, laugh with them, and encourage them to never stop learning. I promise to do my very best to be a positive role model and raise a thoughtful and respectful child. I promise your baby will be surrounded by love and welcomed with open arms by adoring grandparents and more “aunts,” “uncles,” and “cousins” than I can count.

I look forward to having an open relationship with you, if that is something you desire. I am excited to share letters, pictures, and videos while building our open relationship in a way that makes you comfortable.

I’ve said many times on this journey that the more people who love a child, the better. No matter what level of openness we establish, you will always hold a special place in my heart and in the life of your child. I wish you comfort and peace.

With love,
Emily

My Home

Home

In 2021 I bought a townhome in Northern Virginia to make room to expand my family. My house is in a wonderful neighborhood with families from all corners of the globe. It's really important to me to raise a child in an area with lots of diversity. My home is in a great school district with an elementary, middle, and high school all close by. There are tons of fun restaurants and shops nearby. There are also some great walking trails and a beautiful library. Our neighborhood even has two playgrounds! My house is truly made a home by its two furriest residents: my cat, Winne (1), and my mom's cat, Ashe (2). Winnie loves her wand toy and sleeping in the sun. Ashe loves lounging in a cardboard box and eating anything he can get his paws on. More than anything, they love chasing each other around the house!

My Family

Extended Family

I'm incredibly fortunate to come from a very loving and supportive family. I'm an only child and am super close with both of my parents. My parents were married for 50 years before deciding to separate a couple of years ago. I'm so happy to say they have remained good friends, and they both can’t wait to become grandparents!

My mom now lives with me and will be my child's caregiver while I'm working. I can't imagine anyone I trust more to help me raise a child than my own mom! We enjoy traveling together, visiting antique stores, and finding TV shows we both enjoy. My dad lives in North Carolina, and we visit as much as possible. We love to cook together (we make the world's best gumbo), go on hikes, and fish.

When you’re an only child, your friends truly become your family. I don’t know how I got so lucky to meet the greatest people in the world and get to call them my friends, but I do know that I value my friendships and work hard to keep in touch, even with those who live far away. Many of my closest friends have children, and I absolutely love being their “Aunt Emily.”
