Dear Birthmother
Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile. We are in awe of your strength and courage to consider adoption for your baby and take a leap of faith. We appreciate firsthand how difficult this journey can be. Our belief is that only you know what is right for you and your baby. Trust what your heart tells you.
We believe everything happens for a reason, and if you choose to place your baby with us, they will grow up knowing your powerful act of love that brought them into our lives. We will be open to maintaining communications that you’re comfortable with, and we understand that may look different from time to time. We believe the best way to honor you would be to vow a promise.
Our promise to you is to provide your baby with a loving home and a big, warm family. Their happiness, health, and wellbeing will always come first. We will unconditionally love, support, and encourage them to be who they are. They will have two deeply committed dads as their lifelong parents, teachers, coaches, and friends who they can trust. They will be raised to believe that each day is a miracle and a gift we’re here to make the most of in our own special way. When life is difficult, we’ll say thank you and grow. When life is good, we’ll say thank you and celebrate.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
With love and gratitude,
Ace, Evan & Pete
About Us
Our son, Ace, is energetic, playful, outgoing, kind, trusting, and artistic…and ready for a little brother or sister. We fill our days and our hearts playing with friends around our neighborhood and with nearby family, painting and coloring and making messes, reading books, splashing in our pool, playing dress-up, and dancing. Our life philosophy is to collect as many experiences as we can while we can and to live spherically, in many directions. Before Ace was born, we spent our twenties living between Oakland, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, and Oslo. We look forward to traveling the world as a family once the kids are older, but right now, our feet are firmly planted in Southern California, close to our families and the hometowns where we grew up.
What Led Us To Adoption
We always knew we wanted to be dads someday and felt adoption was right for us because one of Evan’s sisters is adopted. We have an open adoption with Ace’s mom, and we’ve been so grateful for our relationship with her. We communicate through text messages and sharing photos monthly, we FaceTime every few months, and we’ve traveled to visit her at Christmastime each year since we adopted Ace. We recognize that not every adoption story looks this way, but if this is the kind of relationship you’re hoping for, we would love this too.
Our Home
We live in a diverse, multiracial, and very LGBTQ-friendly community with many other families that look like ours. We have two cats, Grenny and Miso. We love spending time with our neighbors in each others’ front yards, barbecuing and having picnics, and watching our kids play under large, shady trees. Our four-bedroom, three-bathroom home is part of a special historic community of homes built in the 1930s. We have a front yard with a swing and a big backyard with a swimming pool, lots of grass to play on, fruit and vegetable garden beds, and apricot, orange, and plum trees. We’re close to high-quality, multilingual schools as well as parks and restaurants. We’re walking distance to multiple playgrounds and within a short drive of family, the beach, the mountains, and Disneyland!
Our Family
Our family is very close. We get together multiple times weekly with Ace’s grandparents and weekly with Ace’s aunts, uncles, and cousins. We spend every holiday and birthday together. Activities range from low-key weekend playdates and Sunday dinners to big blow-out Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Super Bowl Sunday parties.
Welcoming your baby into our family is going to be one of the biggest milestones of all our lives. She or he will be Ace’s first baby brother or sister, our second baby, and one of four grandchildren and will be showered with love. Our parents are really taking their new full-time jobs as grandparents seriously, and they’re getting really good at it (maybe too good). Your baby will be surrounded by love, support, laughter, joy, creativity, wisdom, and strength in our family.
