Dear Birthmother
Dear Expectant Mother,
We want to extend our warmest thoughts and support to you during this tumultuous time. As you journey through pregnancy, contemplating the best path forward for you and your baby, we are excited to afford your child every possible opportunity in life we can give. We want to express our heartfelt admiration for your incredible courage and strength in navigating this challenging decision. We recognize the depth of love and selflessness it takes to consider adoption for your child.
As prospective adoptive parents, we are filled with a profound sense of excitement and anticipation at the thought of welcoming your baby into our lives. We believe wholeheartedly in the power of love, family, warmth, and laughter. Coming from loving and understanding families that pass no judgment, we are excited to share our experiences from growing up fishing, boating, skiing, taking vacations to Disney, and having family game nights where we share so many laughs to the point our stomachs hurt to taking walks in the parks with our family dogs.
We understand this is likely the hardest thing you have had to experience. We understand you may have doubts, fears, or uncertainties, but we are both committed to helping ease your fears and uncertainties. Someone once said, “Adopting a child won’t change the world, but for that child, the world will change.” While adopting your child may not alter the course of the world, it will forever transform the life of your child as we offer them love, security, and belonging.
About Us
We found each other while finishing our undergraduate degrees. After a quick message through social media, we went on our first date and haven’t been apart since. John, being a football fan, would attend every game to watch Ryan perform with the drumline in the marching band. Now, 16 years later, after moving to Northwest Indiana to be closer to John’s family, we continue to do what we love as English and IT teachers at local high schools. John coaches football at the Catholic school he graduated from, coaching in consecutive state football games, while Ryan directs a nationally competitive color guard. In our free time, we enjoy traveling to new places across the country and Disney World, finding solace in outdoor activities like hiking and biking. We are a lighthearted and fun-loving couple who invests our time in supporting and improving our local community.
What Led Us To Adoption
We both come from loving and supportive families who did everything in their power to make our dreams come true. More than anything, we want the chance to provide the same things our parents have for us to a child whose mother wants the same. Being teachers and coaches, we have the opportunity to work with and grow students into mature young adults. The possibility of doing this for a child full time has always been a goal of ours.
Our Home
We live in a quiet neighborhood along the Indiana-Illinois border, about 45 minutes from downtown Chicago, providing access to all the museums, sports, culture, and festivals the area provides. We take pride in working on our home, completing several renovations by the work of our own hands. Ryan works at one of the premier high schools in the state, while John works at the leading Catholic school five minutes from our home. We enjoy taking our two dogs, Olaf and Minnie, on long walks around our quiet neighborhood to enjoy the sights and sounds our local nature preserve and playgrounds provide. They also enjoy cuddling with our three cats: Eve, Hercules, and Hades.
Our Family
Our families have always been central to our lives. Living close to John’s family and only an hour from Ryan’s has provided us the opportunity to stay deeply involved in all of our family traditions. From weekly dinners at John’s parents’ house alongside a local lake to Sunday afternoon cruises on Lake Michigan and weeklong family reunions spent island camping in Ohio, we have always made it a priority to build solid family memories of love, laughter, and support. After the recent and sudden loss of Ryan’s mother due to a stroke, being surrounded by loving family members and continuing to follow our family traditions has become more important than ever.
Our extended family is just as excited as we are to welcome your child into our lives with open arms and hearts. John’s sister, having four children of her own and two grandchildren, is ready to help with the support and care a new child may need. We both come from competitive and driven families who participate in all kinds of sports and activities: football, baseball, dance, band, color guard, and fishing.
