Dear Birthmother

We love our mothers, and we know the sacrifices they’ve made for us to have the lives we have today. We can only imagine what this sacrifice means to you, and we celebrate you for considering us to be the parents, family, and home for your little one. As we pray for ourselves in this journey, please know we are also praying for you to have peace and strength with the courage you have to consider the best for your little one’s life. Our first dream as a couple was to have joy, and our second was to have a child. Your courage is creating a way for us to live out that dream. For that, we are so grateful for you!

Our home is filled with love, laughter (lots of it), peace, beauty, encouragement, hope, and faith. If chosen, your baby will instantly experience all of those blessings as they grow to be the best version of themselves in the world. Through family dinners, world adventures, joyful schools, and outings with friends and their little ones, we know your child will have a big and bright sense of community that offers them the unconditional support and unending joy we all need to live our best lives. We promise you that whether in laughter or in tears, in the good days or in the bad, we will move heaven and earth to guarantee your baby the best life we can.

With love and faith,
Robert and Travis

About Us

Joy is the word that describes our relationship, thrilled describes how we feel about parenthood, and peace describes who we are to each other. We met months after moving to the same city, where Robert grew up. After one date to the museum and a delicious meal of wings, buffalo dip, and fries, we’ve been inseparable. Travis is a journalist, and Robert is a nonprofit consultant after spending years as an educator and school superintendent. We have been described by friends as soul mates in every life and by family as the happiest couple they’ve ever seen. It’s true because we absolutely adore doing life together. We love stage theater and musicals, concerts, museums, street festivals, new restaurants, and traveling out of the country. Our families and friends, plus our dog, Deacon Woodford, mean the world to us. We cannot wait to add a little one to the mix!

What Led Us To Adoption

During our first date, we talked about being parents and how much we desired to have a child to share our lives and blessings with. Our families have both been touched by adoption with cousins, and we saw firsthand the power and magic of caring for a child as your very own. We knew adoption was what spoke to our hearts and gave us a sense of peace and purpose in deciding to expand our family. Our faith teaches us to give to the degree that we’ve been blessed. Expanding our family through adoption allows us to live out being a blessed couple with family and friends all across the world who will be with us along the way.

Our Home

Home

We live in a vibrant, beautiful, diverse, and walkable neighborhood in a two-story, red-brick French home built in 1890 and completely renovated in 2024 when we bought it. Our home is filled with unending love, licks, and cuddles from our dog, a Pomeranian-Chihuahua, Deacon Woodford. The neighborhood is bustling with restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, and green spaces, including playgrounds, a stunning lake, and stone bridges. As a community that attracts younger and growing families, we live within walking distance to free, public, and top-ten ranked schools in the state that blend academics, culture, and the arts for a whole-child experience. Our community’s residents are also creatives and political and corporate professionals, which promotes fun events and safety.

Our Family

Extended Family

We have two amazing families! As only children, our cousins and friends are more like siblings, and our aunts and uncles are extra parent figures. We are both momma’s boys, having been raised in mostly single-parent households. Every week for Taco Tuesday, we get to see Robert’s mother, his aunt, and an uncle. We also make it a priority to go to Louisiana many times per year to see Travis’s mother and family.

Robert’s family had Sunday dinners every week after church, gardened together, and spent their holidays at one of his grandmother’s houses. Travis’s family celebrated over bonfires in the country during the autumn, cooked gumbo, and enjoyed the French Quarter in Louisiana.

Now that we are older, our family traditions include our friends, whom we call our chosen family! Every week we see them for concerts, arts events, movies, and meals. During holidays and birthdays, we make every effort to recreate our childhoods by celebrating with over-the-top gatherings with music, themes, and amazing menus! Our favorite holiday to host in our home is Christmas, and every year our party gets bigger and bigger. We look forward to welcoming a child into these traditions and creating new ones!
